How TRAQC Works

printed electronics + terahertz light

Printed and additive electronics are a promising, environmentally friendly alternative to producing devices such as RFID/NFC antennae, conformal medical devices, and automotive components.

Terahertz light, an invisible cousin of infrared light, has unique sensitivity to material properties and enables automated, non-destructive quality inspection of deposited structures.

quality control bars

Quality control bars (QCBs) are based on metamaterial structures and are printed simultaneously alongside commercial products. By tracking their response for each print, the quality of printing can be tracked with high precision.

QCBs can be designed to detect specific functional properties such as ink conductivity, spreading, and thickness, and can be customized for any ink, press type, or web size. This flexibility allows the TRAQC system to measure quality with over 95% accuracy at speeds up to 50 meters per minute.
